Now on occasion it has been known for me to have a glass of wine or two - well maybe 3 or 4 but who's counting ! In the Bahamas this resulted in mass amounts of money disappearing down my throat as the wine on the Island was not cheap. If we saw anything for less than $12 we would try it, all the time knowing that it would be horrible and more use as paint stripper than anything else.


But here in Barcelona it's a completely different story, there's oodles (is that a word?) of choice and at very reasonable prices, Red Wine, White Wine, Cava it's all here and there's too much choice. Yesterday I took my father to our local supermarket because for some unknown reason the wine stock had got seriously low and people where starting to panic !! I decided to get some Cava and went to pick up some Flexinet very reasonable priced at 4.90 Euro's when dad stops me and says

Why are you getting that one? There's one here for 1.90 Euro we can get 2 bottles for the price of one

Must be a Yorkshire thing, does it matter that I like Flexinet - nope, does it matter that he likes Flexinet - nope, we could get two bottles for the price of one so we didn't get the Flexinet. And it was horrible !!! Luckily I also picked up another one to try called Grand Cremant Cava and it's really nice, and at around 2.50 it's cheap enough for dad.


But maybe it's not just a Yorkshire thing, maybe it's a male thing - Wonder Woman's hubby rang my hubby this week

Lidl it has to be said is not my favourite of supermarkets but it does have some good offers on sometimes and this is one of those times - a perfectly quaffable wine for .... wait for it ...... 1.30 Euro down from a whole 1.89 Euro. That's less than $2 can you believe it.


Well guess where me and Wonder Woman will be tomorrow - Oh and if you are on the roads around Gava and Castelldefels watch out for cars filled to the brim with bottles being driven by two women as we go from Lidl to Lidl!!
